Cheryl Lai is a veteran media professional whose career spans journalism, culture, and civil society. 

Starting as a reporter during Taiwan's democratic transition, she later co-founded the Association of Taiwan Journalists and worked to strengthen global press networks through the IFJ and TFCC. In 2022, she was appointed Chairperson of Radio Taiwan International (Rti), guiding the broadcaster through a period of significant geopolitical upheaval. Under her leadership, Rti launched Ukrainian-language programming, deepened its European partnerships, and earned international acclaim for its credibility and resilience. 

Beyond her media work, she remains active in civil society supporting organizations that bridge Taiwan with the global community. Based in Taipei, she balances her public service with a quiet home life alongside her cat, Oreo.
