Olesya Yaremchuk
Researcher and Writer Specializing in Intercultural Dialogue Within Borderland Regions
Olesya Yaremchuk is a researcher and writer specializing in intercultural dialogue within borderland regions. She is the author of Our Others, a book exploring national communities in Ukraine, and the co-editor of Free Voices of Crimea: Stories of Crimean Journalists Imprisoned by the Kremlin.
Her editorial career includes curating the Mike Johansen Award for Literary Reportage at Tempora publising house (2015–2017) and serving as Editor-in-Chief at Choven publishing house (2017–2019). Since 2022, she has focused on sharing Ukraine’s stories with international audiences while continuing her documentation of national communities.
A 2024 fellow at the Institute for Human Sciences in Vienna and the Harriman Institute at Columbia University, she is a laureate of the Samovydets and LitAccent awards – as well as a finalist for the ADAMI Media Prize, the Lviv UNESCO City of Literature Award, and the Women in Arts Award.
