Daryna Shevchenko

CEO of the Kyiv Independent

Daryna Shevchenko is the CEO of the Kyiv Independent. With over 15 years of experience in media management, investigative journalism, and media development, she has built and scaled one of Ukraine’s leading English-language newsrooms into a globally recognized publication.

Previously, she led media development projects across Ukraine, strengthening regional media as executive director of the Media Development Foundation and launching initiatives that continue to support independent journalism. She has also worked in television and investigative reporting, focusing on strategy and sustainability, and advised media organizations on growth and operations as a consultant.
