Kip Hale
Chief of Staff at The Reckoning Project
Christopher “Kip” Hale has led numerous investigations into atrocity crimes for the United Nations and non-governmental organizations in conflict zones across the Middle East, North Africa, and Southeast Asia, and is widely recognized in international criminal justice policy and advocacy circles. He previously served as Chief of Staff for the Atrocity Crimes Advisory Group for Ukraine and its lead implementer, Georgetown University Law Center. Prior to that, he was Investigation Team Leader at the UN Fact-Finding Mission on Libya.
Hale has also worked as a prosecuting attorney in the Office of the Co-Prosecutors at the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC), and has carried out legal defense work and advised judges at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia in The Hague. He was a term member of the Council on Foreign Relations and currently serves on the Advisory Council of the Crimes Against Humanity Initiative and on the Council of Advisors for the Global Institute for the Prevention of Aggression.
Hale has written extensively on international criminal justice for publications around the world, including Foreign Affairs, Just Security, the Australian Journal of International Affairs, the European Journal of International Law, and the Journal of International Criminal Justice.
