Fiona Greenland
Associate Professor of Sociology at the University of Virginia
Fiona Rose Greenland is an associate professor of sociology at the University of Virginia and co-director of the Cultural Resilience Informatics and Analysis Lab (CURIA). A certified OSINT investigator, she works with government and NGO partners in Ukraine and the EU to document alleged culture-based atrocities. She is currently writing a book on linguicide and cultural resistance in Ukraine since the full-scale invasion, drawing on interviews with 75 writers, translators, publishers, and artists across Ukraine and the Ukrainian diaspora. Greenland is also a research affiliate with INDEX Ukraine and will serve as a Research Fellow in Residence in spring/summer 2026 with the Kompetenzverbund Interdisziplinäre Ukrainestudien Frankfurt-Oder (KIU).
